The buzz: Fast-growing Norwegian Cruise Line is creating yet another major megaresort at sea — its sixth in seven years.
On order from Germany’s Meyer Werft shipyard, Encore will boast such over-the-top amusements as the biggest race course at sea. Nearly 1,150 feet long and sprawling over two decks, it’ll include four sections that extend up to 13 feet over the sides of the vessel.
Encore also will have a sprawling water park with two multistory water slides, a restaurant-lined boardwalk, a giant showroom housing the Tony Award-winning production show “Kinky Boots,” and a 10,000-square-foot virtual reality complex with interactive games.
Other attractions will include an open-air laser tag arena themed around the lost city of Atlantis and a giant spa.
Encore will be the fourth and final vessel in Norwegian’s Breakaway Plus class. Previous ships in the series include the recently unveiled Norwegian Bliss as well as Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Joy.
