Hilton Hawaiian Village Rainbow Tower turns 50

Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Rainbow Tower in November and is offering a special promotion in honor of the occasion.

The tower is distinctive for its mosaic tile Rainbow Mural spanning the height of the structure on two sides. Its colorful facade appeared in “Godzilla,” “Hawaii Five-0” and other productions. The mural, designed by artist Millard Sheets, was unveiled in 1968 as the largest tile mosaic in the world at that time. After a multimillion-dollar restoration project, a redone mural, faithful to the original artwork, was unveiled in 2014.

Marking the milestone, the property is offering the “50 Years of Aloha” package through the end of 2018. The offer features a room in Rainbow Tower, two rainbow fedora hats, a beach bag, two complimentary specialty cocktails from Tropics Bar and Grill or Tapa Bar, $50 off a Mandara Spa treatment with the purchase of a regularly priced 50-minute treatment, 50% off a snorkeling excursion with the purchase of a regular-priced pass, and other benefits. The rates for the 50 Years of Aloha package start at $310 per room per night.
