Balinese Monkey Flips Off Camera While Photobombing Family’s Vacation Shot

This Balinese monkey has had enough of tourists and he is not afraid to let the world know how he feels.

An Australian family of five was vacationing in Bali and decided to visit the Ubud Monkey Forest. Their excursion birthed one of the most epic animal photobombs in recent memory.

Judy Hicks, her husband Simon and their three children made their way to the sacred forest, where about 700 monkeys run from tree to tree, in December 2018. They asked a local guide to snap their photograph in the forest.

As the guide began taking pictures, a monkey came running through. The guide had peanuts in his hand and the monkey seemed hungry. The guide fed the monkey and continued taking snapshots of the Hicks family.

But when the family took the camera back and scrolled through the pictures, they noticed something peculiar. While the monkey was running through the frame, one of his hands was perfectly positioned with its middle finger raised to the camera.

“‘The monkey definitely had a cheeky persona going on,” Hicks told The Daily Mail. “We had such a great time there and these funny photos made it even better.”

Perhaps the monkey was making a political statement against the endangerment of orangutans on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Perhaps he’s sick of the influx of tourists coming into the sacred Ubud forest. Or maybe he’s just a cheeky photobomber who knows an opportunity when he sees it.

Regardless of the monkey’s motivations, we can all agree that the execution of the forward-frame middle finger photobomb was legendary.
