Flights in and out of Sea-Tac Airport experienced severe delays Tuesday morning as dense fog hung over the area.

“Sorry travelers for the inconvenience today. Safety is our top priority,” airport officials said on Twitter.

Visibility was reduced to about one-eighth of a mile at Sea-Tac, the National Weather Service said on Twitter. Conditions were expected to improve between 10 a.m. and noon.

As of 9:30 a.m., over 80 percent of flights were marked as “very late” by FlightView.

Sea-Tac Airport advises travelers to check with their airlines for specific flight details, and can do so at this link.

“We’re all working to get you on your way as soon as it’s safe to do so,” airport officials tweeted.
