TripAdvisor reveals Australia’s best hotels – and the world’s most romantic is in Montville, Queensland
For most of us, 2021 so far has served little in the way of holidays outside our borders.
But a new study from TripAdvisor proves we actually don’t need to go anywhere to experience the best accommodation options the world has to offer.
The online booking platform, today announced its annual Travellers’ Choice ‘Best of the Best’ Awards for Hotels, with a single hotel winning the top spot for the most romantic stay in the world.
The biggest win for Australia this year goes to Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat, winning the Most Romantic Hotel in the World.

Nestled in seven acres of rainforest, and containing just six self contained pavilions, each villa is surrounded by birds and the tranquillity of the ancient rainforest. The unique tranquillity makes it the perfect romantic getaway for couples, and has been voted highly in hundreds of reviews.
The other Australian property that made it to the World’s Most Romantic Hotels list is the Bli Bli House Riverside Retreat, which came in at number 3.
The overall top hotel in the South Pacific for 2021 was awarded to Tokoriki Island Resort in Fiji. The stunning resort also made it to 25 in the World list, as well as fifth in the South Pacific’s Most Romantic Hotels list.
The best overall hotel in Australia was awarded to Element on Coolum Beach in Queensland, while the Kingsford Smith Motel in Brisbane came in second spot followed by the Beach Club on Hamilton Island.

In a statement, TripAdvisor spokesman Jane Lim said that from COVID to bushfires and floods, 2020 proved to be the year of weekend getaways and domestic staycations in Australia.
“This year, with travel bubbles in place and more on the way, we’re all excited to finally get back to travel” she said.
“Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best awards celebrate the best hotels around the world – big, small, romantic and more, inviting travellers to get inspired and start planning their epic return to travel once it’s safe again.”
The 2021 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Hotel winners are determined based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on TripAdvisor between 1/1/2020 and 12/31/2020.
