Amadeus River Cruises christens new ship in Cologne

Amadeus River Cruises christened its newest ship, the Amadeus Riva, in Cologne, Germany.

The 67-cabin, 158-passenger Amadeus Riva is the second ship in a new class that started with the introduction of the Amadeus Cara last year.

The company says its new class of river ships are equipped with energy-efficient engines that significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The ships also feature air filtration systems with two-stage purification.

Amadeus Riva will sail the Danube and Rhine rivers as well as Dutch and Belgian waterways. The ship features the line’s signature amenities such as the Panorama Restaurant and Bar, the Café Vienna coffeehouse and the open-air River Terrace bar as well as a wellness and massage area, hairdresser and fitness center.

A pickleball court is on the sundeck. The company installed its first pickleball court on the Amadeus Silver III earlier this year and launched its first pickleball itineraries this spring.
