Carnival Cruise Line will increase Norfolk operations in 2023: Travel Weekly

Carnival Cruise Line will increase operations in Norfolk next year, sailing for a six-month period from May through October from the Virginia port.

The move will more than double the number of cruises on the Carnival Magic out of Norfolk and is a step toward making Norfolk a year-round homeport in 2025, Carnival said.

In a news release, Carnival and the city of Norfolk said they would discuss the necessary terminal and port improvements to support an expansion to year-round operations.

The city already had enhanced the Half Moone Cruise Center so the facility could accommodate the Magic, the largest ship that has ever homeported in Norfolk. The Magic, which entered service in 2011, accommodates 3,690 passengers at double occupancy and a maximum of 4,724.

In May, the Magic became the first cruise ship to depart from Norfolk since 2019.

The 2023 Norfolk cruises went on sale Monday and include four- to 10-day voyages to the Eastern Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda and Canada/New England.

Carnival has been sailing from Norfolk since 2002.
