Celestyal Cruises sells ship that it never used

Celestyal Cruises has sold the Costa ship it purchased one year ago, citing market conditions from the ongoing pandemic.

The Greek line said that after reviewing its forward-looking capacity requirements, it decided to sell the ship. The line had named the ship the Celestyal Experience.

Celestyal will continue operating the Celestyal Crystal and the Celestyal Olympia. The line said it would “explore opportunities for fleet rejuvenation when the time is right.”

The cruise line acquired the 1,800-passenger Costa NeoRomantica (built in 1993) in July 2020 as part of Carnival Corp.’s sell-off of 19 older vessels.
