Costa Cruises is rebranding with a focus on sustainable exploration and culinary partnerships, and will introduce a twist to the “C” logo it has used for more than 70 years.
“The new Costa logo does not give up its historical value and its link with the great tradition of the company, but it develops in a contemporary and innovative way,” said Francesco Muglia, Costa’s vice president of global marketing.
In the new logo, the yellow bottom of the C represents the earth, and the upper blue part represents the sea.
Previously, the C in the Costa logo wrapped around blue and yellow funnels, symbolic of the ones on Costa ships that have long been yellow and emblazoned with a solid blue C.
Costa described the new font for the C as “cleaner, more contemporary and digital.”
The Italian cruise line revealed the logo as part of a new concept that focuses on destination exploration in three key areas: cuisine, tours and sustainability.

Costa president Mario Zanetti said that the line “decided to completely renew our offer. The innovations are so significant that we can talk about a whole new way of traveling with Costa.”
As part of the change, Costa introduced Destination Dishes, recipes from three Michelin-starred chefs that will interpret the traditions and flavors of the places guests visit. Dishes will be served in the main restaurants on all Costa ships and included in the price of the cruise.
The chefs are Italy’s Bruno Barbieri, France’s Helene Darroze and Spain’s Angel Leon.
Archipelago, a new specialty restaurant
The chefs will also create dishes for Archipelago, a restaurant on the Costa Smeralda and coming soon to other ships in the fleet. Archipelago offers three menus — one from each chef — each listing five items reflecting destinations visited during the cruise.
The restaurant’s design features a copper sculpture enclosing pieces of driftwood and other installations using wood salvaged from the shore, showcasing a theme of sustainability.
For every dinner eaten at Archipelago, Costa will donate part of the proceeds to Costa Crociere Foundation to support environmental and social projects.
Costa said it has rethought its entire range of tours to enable guests to explore less-visited places and revamped cruise itineraries to enable longer stays in ports.
