Cruise guest exposes ‘biggest rip off’ cabin

From penthouse suites to interior cabins, cruise guests have a huge choice of rooms to pick from.

On the majority of large cruise ships passengers will be able to pick between interior, ocean view and balcony cabins.

While interior cabins are usually the cheapest option, some passengers don’t like how dark they can be.

However, one passenger has said they think that ocean view cabins are the “biggest rip off” when it comes to rooms.

The passenger ‘gkandgk’ said: “We actually think that ocean view is the biggest rip off. We did it once and never again.

“You can’t get fresh air but you get more noise and light. We do two to three cruises a year and mostly choose inside.”

Another passenger ‘pacific_crick’ said: “I’ve only booked interior rooms on my two cruises but both times cruised with people who had a balcony.

“It’s simple to walk to a deck with an outside view when I want it and save money for other things. The rooms themselves are very dark with the lights out and we slept like babies both times.”

However, cheap interior rooms aren’t the right choice for everyone and some passengers will always pay to upgrade.

Another guest ‘mshorts’ said: “Interior cabins are small and dark. I wouldn’t sail in one.”

‘Olcrazypete’ said: “Really not a huge people person, balcony is a must for us. Can spend hours out there reading and watching the waves.”

If passengers want privacy to enjoy views and outdoor coffee, it’s probably a good idea to upgrade to a balcony room.

A passenger added: “My family uses the balcony a lot. We love sitting out there, watching the birds follow the ship.

“So really it just depends if you’re going to use it. If you step out a few times during your trip, then probably not. If you go out there regularly, then absolutely.”
