Crystal adds Miami as embarkation port on cruises departing the Bahamas
Citing demand for close-to-home cruises, Crystal will add Miami as an embarkation point and new port of call on the Crystal Serenity’s Bahamas cruises, starting with the Nov. 7 sailing from Nassau.
The ship will arrive in Miami on Aug. 9, where travelers can embark and those onboard can visit the city. Crystal told travel advisors the decision was made because of a lack of airlift into the Bahamas.
“By adding Port of Miami, we are giving travelers another convenient way to join these popular Bahamas cruises that provide vacation escapes both close to home and yet a world away, with amazing outdoor options from snorkeling and diving to eco-tours and deep-sea fishing, to just relaxing on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches,” said Jack Anderson, Crystal president.

The seven-day roundtrip Luxury Bahamas Escapes, operating into early November, will now offer three ports of embarkation: Nassau on Saturdays, Bimini on Sundays and Miami on Mondays. Crystal also added a 4-day Luxury Bahamas Getaway sailing on Nov. 15 roundtrip from Miami that will visit San Salvador and Exuma and have one day at sea.
Crystal adjusted its adult vaccine mandate to comply with Florida law that prohibits asking for proof of vaccination: for passengers embarking in Miami, the line “highly recommends,” but does not require, vaccination.
Unvaccinated guests must be approved after an initial waitlist and are subject to capacity control. They must have proof of valid travel insurance. Unvaccinated guests will need to adhere to specific protocols and further testing requirements in addition to certain restrictions during the cruise, such as mandatory masks in all public areas except when eating and/or drinking, and no access to some public areas such as specialty restaurants, lounges and night clubs, the Crystal Life Spa and Crystal Life Fitness.
Unvaccinated guests will be identified by a red bracelet while vaccinated ones will have green ones. Unvaccinated guests also may not be able to go ashore in certain ports or attend certain gatherings onboard such as the Crystal Society party. Dining will be assigned in a socially distanced area.
