Cunard Line cancels World Voyages, unveils new itineraries

Cunard Line has canceled a number of sailings this fall and into the spring of 2022 citing the ongoing complexities of international travel during the pandemic. At the same time, the line has announced new itineraries sailing as soon as July.

Cunard has canceled the following sailings:

• Queen Elizabeth’s sailings from the U.K. to Australia, and her homeport season in Australia, from Oct. 18 through March 9.

• The Queen Mary 2 and The Queen Victoria 2022 World Voyages.

• The Queen Victoria’s sailings from Sept. 10 to April 29.

The Queen Elizabeth will, however, take on five of the Queen Victoria’s sailings (voyages V126, V128, V129, V130 and V201). The itineraries will be identical.

Guests with canceled cruises will automatically get a future cruise credit for 125% of standard deposit terms. They can also opt for a 100% refund.

“Sadly, the path for a return to sailing across international waters is less clear, and we are extremely sorry for the huge disappointment cancellations will cause for all guests who have been affected,” Cunard president Simon Palethorpe said in a statement. “Unfortunately, there are simply too many international ports of call affected by the ongoing complexities of Covid-19, which has sadly led to this decision.”

Cunard plans to resume operations July 19 with a series of U.K. voyages on the Queen Elizabeth. The ship will leave in mid-February for her previously scheduled season in Japan beginning April 13.

The Queen Mary 2 will resume sailing on Nov. 14 with a transatlantic crossing, then deploy on a series of Caribbean itineraries from January to April. She will resume her previously published schedule at that point.

The Queen Victoria will sail on three new voyages departing from the U.K. in April, including itineraries of Western Europe, the Baltics and the Iberian Coast. Starting May 20, she will resume her previously published schedule.
