Disney Wish's maiden voyage delayed until July

Disney Cruise Line pushed back the inaugural sailing of the Disney Wish by six weeks, citing Meyer Werft shipyard delays.

The delays were caused in part by “the arrival of the omicron variant in Germany at a critical point in the production process,” Disney Cruise Line said.

Postponement of the ship’s maiden voyage to July 14 leaves the cruise line offering customers options to adjust their plans. The cruise line is offering affected customers a 50% discount on a future cruise departing by Dec. 31, 2023.

The new ship was first scheduled to begin sailing in January before the first pandemic-related delay pushed the debut to the summer of 2022.

The liquefied natural gas-powered ship will be the largest in Disney’s fleet. The 1,250-cabin ship will be able to accommodate about 4,000 passengers when at full capacity.
