Norwegian Viva's debut pushed back six weeks: Travel Weekly

Norwegian Cruise Line is the latest line to be affected by supply-chain issues. 

NCL is canceling the first six weeks of 2023 European sailings on the new Norwegian Viva, due to supply-chain disruptions delaying delivery of the ship.

The 3,250-passenger Viva is the second ship in the line’s new Prima class. Its sister ship, the Norwegian Prima, was also delayed this year due to supply-chain issues but is scheduled to debut this month with a naming ceremony in Iceland on Aug. 27.

The Viva was supposed to begin sailing July 3, 2023. The line has canceled Viva sailings through Aug. 17., and it has repositioned the Norwegian Getaway to take over the Viva’s canceled voyages.

Guests can either sail on a comparable itinerary on the Getaway at a 20% discount of the cruise fare originally paid or cancel the current reservation on the Viva and rebook at a later date. Guests canceling their sailing must do so by Sept. 2. All impacted guests will receive a 10% discount toward sailings from Aug. 28, 2023, through Dec. 31, 2024.
