Oceania deploying refurbished Riviera in Asia

Oceania Cruises will send the freshly refurbished Oceania Riviera to Asia in the 2023-24 sailing season.

The move nearly doubles Oceania’s seasonal availability in the Asia-Pacific Region with 121 itineraries between the Oceania Insignia, Oceania Nautica, Oceania Regatta and the Oceania Riviera.

The decision to assign the 1,238-guest Riviera to Asia comes amid “unprecedented” demand there for the 2023-24 season, according to Oceania. The ship will sail through Arabia, India, Myanmar, Vietnam, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and the Philippines on 10- to 82-day voyages.

Highlights of the Riviera’s itineraries include opportunities to see the Great Wall, Bangkok’s Grand Palace, the landscape of Ha Long Bay and the temples and gardens of Kyoto, Japan. Guests can also call in Hong Kong and Tokyo along with smaller ports, like Yangon and the remote island of Ishigaki in Japan.

While the Riviera sails in Asia, the line will expand the reach of the Regatta and the Nautica to offer more sailings in the South Pacific to New Zealand, Australia and French Polynesia.

The Riviera recently completed a refurbishment that included novel furnishings in staterooms, bathrooms with Italian marble, new carpets and leather armchairs in restyled public spaces and a new pizzeria and trattoria for dining alfresco.

The Oceania Marina was expected to undergo similar renovations to the Riviera, but that project has been postponed indefinitely, according to the line.
