New cruise announced for Oberammergau

Guests can book now and save $1,400 per couple, with flights for $995 per person

Viking today announced the launch of a special river cruise that will allow guests to experience Oberammergau – The Passion Play – an opportunity that comes along only once a decade.

Guests will witness the trial, suffering and death of Christ during The Passion Play, which has been performed every decade since 1634, when the residents of this tiny Bavarian Hamlet vowed to perform a Passion Play every ten years if God spared them from the Plague. Keeping their promise, the villagers have continued to perform throughout the centuries. Today, over 2000 of Oberammergau’s residents still take part in this moving work of art featuring dramatic performances, charming music and choral accompaniment.

After witnessing the famous Play, guests will board their elegant Longship to experience more religious highlights while sailing the fabled Danube, gazing upon the heavenly hilltop setting of Göttweig Abbey and stepping inside Vienna’s St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

10-day Oberammergau, The Passion Play sails from Munich to Budapest between June and October 2020 and includes seven guided tours across three countries. It is now priced from $6,195 per person, including a saving of up to $1,400 per couple, plus return flights to Europe for $995 per person. This offer is valid until 30 April 2018, unless sold out prior.

“With medieval towns, grand cities and hallowed sites along the way, this will be a truly inspirational journey,” said Michelle Black, Managing Director Viking Australia and New Zealand. “2020 may seem distant but excitement is already building for the next production and demand is sure to be high. If your guests want to experience this once-in-a-decade event then we recommend you book soon and take advantage of this excellent value offer.”
