Unearth the NT on The Ghan Expedition

Guests travelling on the three-night, four-day Ghan Expedition from Darwin to Adelaide can now split their journey in Alice Springs for the first time giving them the chance to explore further afield.

From June to August 2020, Expedition guests can spend three days in Alice Springs before re-joining The Ghan and continuing south to Adelaide.

Rather than travelling straight through from Darwin to Adelaide, this exciting new change means guests can take the time to visit Uluru, explore the MacDonnell Ranges, discover Alice Spring’s Indigenous experiences and take time to unwind.

Luke Walker, Chief Operating Officer at Journey Beyond, said the chance to split The Ghan Expedition opens a range of possibilities for guests.

“The Ghan Expedition is the ultimate way to experience the Northern Territory and South Australia by train and this change will give guests greater opportunity to unearth the treasures of Central Australia,” Mr Walker said.

To celebrate the change, a new package has been curated that highlights the best of the Northern Territory. ‘Territory Tour’ is a ten-day, nine-night package, which includes three nights in Darwin, three nights on The Ghan Expedition and three nights in Alice Springs. It features bonus touring including a sunset tour with Darwin Harbour Cruises, a day trip to Litchfield National Park and a guided tour of Alice Springs. Prices for ‘Territory Tour’ start from $3,999 per person Gold Service twin share.

For those who’d like to explore Uluru, there’s the chance to upgrade to include a scenic flight and lunch at the spiritual heart of Australia.
