Efteling theme park opens new fairytale-themed attraction and it’s magical

With its fairytale theme and plethora of attractions, Efteling theme park is already the stuff of storybooks.

Now, the Netherlands-based theme park has added a new sprinkling of magic for guests as it opens new attraction The Six Swans.

The 30th fairytale-themed ride at the park, and located in the fittingly named 'Fairytale Forest', the Six Swans follows a classic Brothers Grimm tale.

The story sees six princes transformed into swans by their jealous stepmother. It's down to their little sister Elisa to break the spell and turn her brothers back into humans.

The task? Sew six shirts from aster flowers without speaking or laughing for six years.

There is a happy ending of course – and now kids and parents can live out the adventure for themselves.

The Six Swans can be experienced in two ways; visitors can walk through the castle and take in the scenes, or opt to tide one of the three-metre-long swans along a small water stream.

In fact, it's the first time that the theme park has incorporated a ride into one if its attractions.

It's not all gentle attractions at the theme park; adrenaline-seekers can get their fill thanks to the thrilling rollercoasters on offer from the Baron to the Python.

Want to see it for yourself? The park sits about an hour's drive from Amsterdam, and can make for a fun day out if you're heading there on a city break.
