Moxy Athens City hotel opens: Travel Weekly
Moxy Athens City opened in the Greek capital with 200 guestrooms featuring the brand’s tech-forward design.
The property is located near such landmarks as the Acropolis, the Plaka neighborhood, Syntagma Square and Ermou Street.
Guestrooms feature walk-in showers, LED lighting and smart technology as well as wall art by Athenian street artist b. The hotel’s rooftop penthouse can be booked as a suite or private entertainment venue and features views of the Acropolis.
The architectural firms Kokkinou-Kourkoulas and Divercity Architects transformed the property from its origins as the Saroglion Megaron, where the city courts of Athens once stood.
The Moxy Athens City is the first green hotel in Greece to be awarded a LEED Gold certification. The project was spearheaded by real estate development and investment companies Dimand SA and Prodea Investments, and SWOT Hospitality is managing the hotel.
Rates start at about $105 a night.
