Alterra raises prices on Ikon Pass for 2023-24

The Alterra Mountain Co. released its rates for the 2023-24 Ikon Pass products. Passes go on sale on March 16.

• The top-level Ikon Pass will offer access to 54 ski destinations in the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan with an opening price of $1,159 for new adult passholders and a renewal rate of $1,059. Both figures are up $80 from the early-buyer price for the 2022-23 Ikon Pass, which Alterra offered until mid-April of 2022.

• For the Ikon Base Pass, which offers access to 48 destinations, Alterra is charging an opening price for new passholders of $829 and a renewal rate of $779, up $60 from this season’s pass.

• The Ikon Base Plus Pass, which features the same mountains as the full Ikon Pass but with more restrictions, will be on sale for $1,049 for new passholders and $999 for renewals, compared which $969 and $919 respectively for the 2022-23 pass.

Ski destinations that are on the Ikon Pass and Ikon Base Plus Pass but are not on the Ikon Base Pass include Aspen Snowmass; Jackson Hole; Utah’s Deer Valley, Snowbasin and Alta; Idaho’s Sun Valley; and New Mexico’s Taos. All of those destinations were unavailable to Base Pass holders this year, as well, with the exception of Taos.

Ikon will sell its most limiting product, the four-day Session Pass, with access to 39 destinations, for a starting price of $439.

Many skiers who held any Ikon product during the Covid-shortened 2019-2020 ski season will receive credit off next year’s pass price due to a class-action settlement agreement Alterra entered into last year. Credits will vary from $10 to $150 depending upon how many times individuals used their passes in 2019-20 and will be automatically awarded.
