Casa de Campo partners on a travel insurance plan for guests
Travel protection plans are part and parcel of the offerings at many Caribbean resorts during this Covid era. The 7,000-acre Casa de Campo Resort & Spa on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic is one such resort offering a plan — with a few twists.
Casa de Campo partnered with travel insurance company Trawick International, insurance broker Gowrie Group and AeroMD, a medical evacuation service, in designing its recently launched Safe Travels Voyager Protection Plan.
The plan offers 100% cancellation coverage, on-island primary medical care, quarantine coverage and air evacuation services for any medical reason, Covid-19 related or not.
The quarantine protection includes additional room nights partially or fully covered.
The plan is designed to ensure peace of mind for guests, according to Jason Kycek, Casa de Campo’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.
“We are seeing a significant increase in the need for travel and travel medical plans across the board, and we’re advising all travelers to have a plan in place or to purchase this type of coverage,” said Rick Bagnall, senior vice president of the Gowrie Group.
Upon booking a stay at Casa de Campo, guests have the option to add this protection plan to their reservation. Basic plans range from $142 to $240 per person in guestrooms and start from $890 in a five-bedroom villa, in effect for the duration of the trip.
If a family is traveling together, plans can be customized to include all members or per person.
Trip cancellation is covered; primary medical coverage is $250,000; AeroMD evacuation is covered up to $1 million; pre-existing conditions are waived if the plan is purchased prior to final payment; and coverage for accidental death and dismemberment is $25,000.
When a guest books through a travel advisor, Casa’s reservation team sends the client’s customized plan information to the advisor.
And with all that piece of mind in hand, guests can tee off on the famous Pete Dye-designed Teeth of the Dog golf course, one of five at the resort; take aim at clay pigeons in the shooting center; play polo at one of the three polo fields; horseback ride at the Equestrian Center; volley and serve at the 13 tennis courts; relax at the Mintas beach club; and visit Altos de Chavon, a village set 300 feet above the Chavon River and modeled after a 16th-century Mediterranean town.
