Enjoy Free Admission at Nearly 1,500 US Museums This Saturday

Museum Day is Saturday, coinciding with the fall equinox.

If you’re looking to ring in autumn at one of the country’s many exceptional museums this weekend, money is no object. That’s because nearly 1,500 U.S. museums are offering free admission Saturday, September 22 as part of Smithsonian magazine’s annual Museum Day event.

You can visit the Smithsonian magazine’s website to download tickets for participating museums across all 50 states and Washington, D.C. now through Saturday.

Museum-goers can download up to one ticket per email address. One ticket provides free general admission for up to two people.

In some cases, a printed ticket is required to gain entry. Visitors can check for an asterisk under their chosen museum’s address to confirm whether they need a printed ticket.

While many of the participating museums are already free to visit every day, Saturday provides travelers and locals alike the rare opportunity to experience world-class museums they may have otherwise missed out on because of cost, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.

Florida (104), New York (103) and California (99) boast the largest number of participating museums this weekend and every state and district offers at least four options.
