Alaska Airlines will fly to the Bahamas from Los Angeles and Seattle

Alaska Airlines will operate winter seasonal service to Nassau from Los Angeles and Seattle beginning December.

Both flights are the first to the Bahamas for Alaska.

The announcement follows JetBlue’s revelation earlier this month that in November it will become the first airline to serve the Bahamas from the West Coast.

Alaska will fly Los Angeles-Nassau four times per week and Seattle-Nassau thrice weekly. The Los Angeles route will compete against the new Saturday-only service to be operated by JetBlue.

Both Alaska routes will begin on Dec. 15 and continue into the second week of April. Nassau will be Alaska’s 101st destination.

In addition, Alaska has announced new winter seasonal from Las Vegas to Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. The Puerto Vallarta route launches Dec. 14 and the Cabo route on Dec. 15. Both will operate four times weekly until the second week of April.

Alaska will fly to the Bahamas using Boeing 737 aircraft. Regional Embraer E175 jets will be deployed on the flights between Las Vegas and Mexico. Both aircraft types are equipped with first class and economy cabins, and also offer extra-legroom seats in the economy cabins.
