Canadian discount carrier Flair resuming U.S. service
Canadian budget carrier Flair Airlines plans to re-enter the U.S. this winter with 21 seasonal routes.
U.S. destinations are to include Orlando Sanford; Fort Lauderdale; Las Vegas; Phoenix Mesa; Burbank, Calif.; and Palm Springs, Calif.
Canadian departure cities are to include Toronto; Ottawa; Montreal; Vancouver; Calgary, Alberta; Halifax, Nova Scotia; Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario; and Abbotsford, British Columbia.
Flair plans to fly five routes each to Orlando and Las Vegas; four routes to Fort Lauderdale; three routes each to Phoenix and Burbank; and one to Palm Springs.
The seasonal routes are to operate between Oct. 31 and March 26.
Currently, leisure travel between Canada and the U.S. is prohibited under Covid-19 restrictions.
Edmonton-based Flair offered winter service to nine U.S. destinations in 2018-19, but did not resume U.S. flying the following pre-pandemic winter, nor during the pandemic this past winter, Cirium flight schedule data shows.
The new service is part of an ambitious five-year growth plan under which Flair would have a fleet of 50 aircraft in the next five years, the airline said. The discount carrier currently flies three Boeing 737-800s and five 737 Max 8s, according the website Planespotters. Flair has seven Max 8 aircraft on order.
