Delta and Israel's El Al enter strategic partnership

Delta and Israel’s El Al have entered into a strategic partnership agreement that will eventually include codesharing and reciprocal frequent flyers accrual and redemption.

At launch, the partnership will enable flyers connecting between Delta and El Al flights to complete their journey with a single interline check-in and to have bags checked through to their final destination.

Delta currently flies to the Israeli commercial center of Tel Aviv from Atlanta, Boston and New York JFK. El Al overlaps with Delta on Boston and JFK service and also flies to Newark, Miami and Los Angeles.

Delta said it offers up to 200 same-day U.S. connections from Tel Aviv through those Atlanta, Boston and New York gateways.

“Working closely with EL AL will further strengthen Delta’s connection to Israel by offering more customers unrivalled access to destinations across the U.S.,” Matteo Curcio, Delta’s senior vice president for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India, said in a prepared remark.

El Al is not currently a member of any of the three international airline alliances. Delta is in the Sky Alliance.
