Delta makes two policy changes that benefit frequent flyers: Travel Weekly
Delta SkyMiles members can now permanently earn credit toward Medallion status when flying on award tickets. This had been a Covid-era policy that was set to expire at the end of the year.
Delta flyers qualify for the various Medallion status tiers through a combination of how much they spend in a calendar year and how many miles they fly or how many flight segments they fly.
Delta has also removed the earnings cap of 75,000 points per ticket, making it the first U.S. legacy airline to do so. The move will mostly benefit SkyMiles members with a high status level.
Under the SkyMiles program, members without status earn 5 points for every dollar spent on a ticket. Silver Medallion members earn seven points per dollar, Gold Medallion members get 8 points per dollar, Platinum Medallion members earn 9 points per dollar and Diamond Medallion members get 11 points per dollar.
