Qantas resumes New York flight
Qantas resumed New York service on Wednesday, following a pandemic-induced pause of more than three years.
Qantas is connecting JFK with Sydney on one-stop service through Auckland, New Zealand. The flight operates three times per week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays through September. Then the service goes to four times per week in October.
The Auckland stopover is new. Qantas’ previous iteration of its New York-Sydney service traveled via Los Angeles.

Qantas plans to fly nonstop from New York to Sydney and Melbourne beginning in 2025 using purpose-built Airbus A350-1000 planes.
