Virgin Atlantic has implemented an updated gender-identity policy, allowing all employees to choose whichever uniform they prefer.
Employees can also mix and match among its two traditional uniform sets.
The move, the carrier said, is part of a broader effort to champion individuality.
In addition, Virgin Atlantic has begun offering pronoun badges both for employees and customers. The customers who wish to wear a badge should request one at the check-in desk or at a Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse lounge.

“At Virgin Atlantic, we believe that everyone can take on the world, no matter who they are,” chief commercial officer Juha Jarvinen said in a prepared remark. “That’s why it’s so important that we enable our people to embrace their individuality and be their true selves at work.”
The carrier has also updated its ticketing systems to allow for those who hold passports with a gender-neutral marker to select ‘U’ or ‘X’ gender codes on their booking as well as the gender-neutral title ‘Mx.’

For those who don’t have access to a gender-neutral passport, Virgin Atlantic said it is developing a plan to ensure that the airline can address customers by their preferred pronouns across all touchpoints.
