A New Ace Hotel Is Opening in Brooklyn This Year
A new Ace Hotel is coming to Brooklyn.
In January, Atelier Ace announced its plans to open the Ace Hotel Brooklyn, specifically in Boerum Hill, in Spring 2021. The hotel, the company explained, was designed from the ground up in partnership with longtime Ace collaborators Roman and Williams, who helped curate the look of the 287-room hotel.
"We've been building toward Ace Brooklyn for years; the entire city has reimagined itself several times over since we started," Brad Wilson, the president of the Ace Hotel Group, shared. "That's exactly the spirit we've worked to mirror in every corner of our new home — the inexhaustible ingenuity that stands as the borough's only constant. We're lucky enough to have landed at the junction of so many rich and inspiring neighborhoods, and hope to provide a new and inviting sense of place for our guests and neighbors to call home."
The company described its new hotel as "open, spacious and welcoming" in its design, which includes a public lobby and indoor-outdoor portals to help people transition easily from inside out.
Each of the hotel's guest rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows so visitors can gaze out onto the city below. Some of the rooms on higher floors even come with 360-degree views of the city, including a peek at the Statue of Liberty. The rooms also feature original artwork by local fiber and textile artists, each matching the room's cream and green color scheme that give off utterly relaxing vibes, even in photographs.
As for the hotel's exterior, the company explained it too is inspired by the "sprawling egalitarian promise of the borough." It will come with plenty of "industrial grit" made out of metal, wood, tile, and concrete.
"For our third collaboration with Ace Hotel, Roman and Williams created both the building and the interiors for Ace Brooklyn," Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, from Roman and Williams, said in a statement. "We chose to embrace a governing principle of purity and artistic spirit in our architecture and the spaces within. We employed a philosophy of primitive modernism holistically across the project. This highly artistic approach drove us to use construction methods and materials with honesty. This is evident in everything you touch and see. This undecorated and tactile spirit expresses a radical transparency in its approach to the design of Ace Brooklyn."
