‘Affordable alternative to the Maldives’ is a ‘beautiful’ country

Holiday prices are on the rise and many Britons are struggling to afford a break in Spain, Greece or France. However, a far cheaper alternative has beaches that could be mistaken for the Maldives.

The holiday experts at loveholidays have shared their top destinations for British tourists looking to save money.

For beach fans, the team recommend a budget-friendly break in Albania which has a breathtaking coastline.

A spokesperson from loveholidays said: “Albania, on southeastern Europe’s Balkan Peninsula, is often overlooked as a destination in eastern Europe, but it has unspoiled beaches, beautiful coastline and water springs give travellers plenty of reason to visit.

“Albania has an abundance of lakes and waterfalls awash with different shades of blue, with some even calling it the affordable alternative to the Maldives.”

Ksamil has some of Albania’s most stunning beaches and can be reached easily from the nearby resort of Saranda.

A tourist, Wendy, wrote on Tripadvisor: “The beach was full of life and music. The water was beautifully clear.”

Another tourist, Amandamonte, said: “The beach is beautiful, one of the few completely sandy beaches, the water is crystal clear.”

Several tourists said they recommended visiting Ksamil in the early morning to beat the crowds during high season.
