Best country in the world for workers named

Whether it’s the ideal job opportunity, a chance to improve career prospects or a higher salary, many Britons decide to move abroad for work. Expats can even get a higher salary for the same role in some countries.

A new ranking from the expat experts at InterNations has named the best country in the world for working Britons. The team asked expats to rank several important factors to find the best destination.

Expats rated their home based on career prospects, work and leisure, salary and job security and work culture and satisfaction. Luckily for Britons, the top country isn’t that far away from the UK.

The Netherlands topped the rankings with expats giving the country a high score in each of the surveyed categories. Europe dominated the top three with Luxembourg and Sweden rounding off the podium.

But what makes the Netherlands such a great place to work and could it offer better opportunities for British workers?

The Netherlands really excelled when it came to work-life balance which more than three quarters were happy with. Expats were also happy with their working hours.

Over half of expats felt they had improved their career prospects by moving to the Netherlands while a similar number were happy with the local job market.

According to Statista, the Netherlands is the most open-minded country in Europe to remote work, making it a great choice for expats that want flexibility. The country was even one of the first to make working from home a human right.

Workers in the Netherlands are offered 20 days minimum holiday meaning British expats won’t be entitled to more holiday there. Austria is a better option for expats looking for more paid holiday allowance.
