Best deals to Europe’s most festive Christmas market cities this December

If you’re hoping to get into the festive spirit, there’s perhaps no better way to embrace the season than with a trip to a Christmas market. While there are plenty of fantastic Christmas markets to choose from in the UK, if you want to treat yourself to an overseas trip, Europe is home to some incredible seasonal markets that are among some of the best in the world.

However, as the peak December season approaches, prices for these festive holidays can begin to rise. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t still deals to be had.

Our editors have scoured the web to find some of the best deals right now – but they won’t be around for long.

Prague

Prague has several Christmas markets for visitors to enjoy this festive season, including the famous Staromestske Náměstí, or Old Town Square Market at the heart of the Czech Republic capital. Though holidays to Prague can be expensive at this time of year, with holidaymakers arriving in droves to explore the snow-dusted city, there is a limited-time offer right now which could see you enjoying a stay for less than £100 per person per night.

LastMinute.com is currently offering a two-night stay for two people at the Ea Hotel Crystal Palace for £155 per person. That works out at £77.50 per person, per night.

The holiday also includes flights from London Gatwick with Wizz Air on December 11, 2023. The return flights will take you to London Luton.

Vienna

Vienna was recently named as one of the most searched for Christmas market destinations, in research conducted by Mega Dice, and so as you might imagine, prices can be high during the peak holiday season. The Austrian capital has over 20 official Christmas markets dotted throughout the city, so it’s the perfect place to sip on a mulled wine and get into the festive spirit.

Jet2CityBreaks is currently offering a discount of £100 on a city break holiday to Vienna as part of its extended Black Friday sale. However, the discount will only be around until December 4 – that is unless all of these holidays are snapped up before then.

For £563 per person, holidaymakers can stay at the beautiful Renaissance Wien Hotel, rated four stars by Jet2 and with a Tripadvior score of four stars.

The holiday includes return flights from Manchester on December 8, 2023, as well as 22kg of baggage per person.

Berlin

Another European city that lights up at Christmas time is Berlin, with around 80 markets all across the city offering gifts, treats, snacks and drinks, as well as a host of entertainment. Right now, you can enjoy a four-night package holiday with TUI from £363 per person. That works out at just over £90 per person, per night.

The holiday includes a stay at Best Western Hotel City Ost, which is just three kilometres from the heart of the city.
