Best destination in the world for expats sells coffee for £1.50

The life insurance team at Reassured looked at the best cities in Europe for remote working expats. They looked at the cost of accommodation, the cost of a coffee, number of free WiFi spots and co-working spaces.

Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city, came out on top in the rankings and British expats will find a coffee costs just £1.50 there.
Turkish coffee is known for being very strong as it has a longer extraction time and uses more finely ground beans.
Housing is also cheaper than in the UK and expats may be able to rent an apartment for far less money.
The city also has a sizable number of free WIFI spots and several coworking spaces suitable for remote workers.
Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, was ranked in second place and expats will also enjoy a cheaper cost of living there.
Free WIFI can be harder to find but as Bulgaria is in the EU, expats who are still on a free roaming contract may be able to use data.
Accommodation in Sofia was even cheaper than in Istanbul, making it a bargain destination for remote workers.
The city’s main attraction is the St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, which towers above Sofia.
London took the third spot although the British capital has some of the world’s most expensive housing.
However, London is very well set up for remote working and there are almost 1,000 registered co-working spaces.
Budapest, Hungary’s capital, took the third spot and had the cheapest cup of coffee on the list at £1.42.
The beautiful city is a leading tourist destination and remote workers will be able to unwind at the thermal baths after a busy day at work.
Zagreb, Croatia’s capital, took the fifth spot. The largest city in Croatia, expats won’t be far from the coast for a weekend trip.
Croatia is due to join the Schengen Zone on January 1, so expats will need to follow the 90 out of every 180 days unless they have a visa.
Madrid was the highest scoring Spanish city and accommodation there is more expensive than in Turkey or Eastern Europe.
Warsaw, Riga and Rome also made the rankings with Riga the cheapest option of the three cities.
