Holidaying in the UK is the safest option during a pandemic, but with more people travelling to popular beauty spots, beaches and cities in the UK this summer, you’ll struggle to find somewhere quiet and peaceful to go. Express.co.uk chatted to Nicky Kelvin from The Points Guy UK to find out the top three staycation locations for summer 2021, if you’re keen to avoid the crowds.

Last summer pictures of rammed beaches flooded social media and photos of packed pub gardens were plastered in the papers.

After more than a year of lockdowns and restrictions, Britons are eager to get away and have some fun… but they don’t necessarily want to risk facing huge crowds and queues.

Don’t fancy sunning yourself on a busy beach in England? Or maybe you’re concerned about sitting in cramped restaurants in the UK’s bustling cities?

Fear not, there are plenty of peaceful and relatively quiet locations in the UK.

If you want something really quiet where you won’t be disturbed, you probably don’t want to stay in a busy hotel.

Nicky said: “For those looking for the quietest of staycations, the focus will be on remote self-contained accommodation.

“Availability in the summer for certain spots is good at the moment, and prices are not exorbitant.”

The big decision you have to make is the location, and Nicky has suggested his top 3 quiet locations.

Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales is a National Park is in Northern England, and for those looking for a quiet trip filled with walking and exploring nature, this is a perfect choice.

Nicky said: “You could pick up bolt holts and shepherd’s hut that would house a family in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in June for around £100 per night.

“Similar deals can be found in the North York Moors and along its gorgeous coastline.”

Wales

Wales has some absolutely gorgeous coastlines, castles, national parks, and of course, a mountain region.

Nicky said: “At the same price point or around £100 a night, you could also try somewhere remote in Wales.

“There is a glut of properties available in the Snowdonia national park for example.”

Norfolk or Suffolk

If you live in the South of England and don’t want to trek as far across the country for a quick break, you might like to try Norfolk or Suffolk.

These destinations are great for beaches, cliffs, typical British grub, and lots of walking.

Nicky said: “For slightly more (edging towards £150 per night), you’ll find cottages in remote parts of Norfolk and Suffolk.”
