British Airways mocked over ‘travesty’ Jollof rice meal served on Ghana flight
British Airways has been criticised online after serving a “travesty” of meal – and they even spelt the name incorrectly.
Over on Twitter a social media user mocked the airline for its attempt to serve Jollof rice to passengers.
The spicy rice dish is commonly made in Senegal, Nigeria and Ghana with variations on flavour between the different countries.
Usually, the meal is made from long-grain rice, tomatoes, onions, spices, vegetables and meat.
But, Twitter user Joeva Rock shared a snap of the dish which was served on a BA flight to Ghana and other holidaymakers claimed they'd been served similarly dissapointing dishes by other airlines.
British Airways wrongly labelled the meal “joloff rice” – and the post was quickly was flooded with comments.
Other social media posters slammed the dish and one called it a “travesty”.
Sharing a picture of her dish, Joeva said: "Twitter, it's time I share with you the 'Jollof rice' British Airways served on my flight to Ghana a few weeks ago."
One commenter joked: "I hope you called police to ensure someone was arrested when the plane landed."
While another added: "Well, to be fair, they said 'joloff'. I can tell you where that travesty of a 'meal' is from."
A third added: "I’d have to fight the flight staff in defence of the ancestors."
And, some were concerned by the ingredients in the dish, reports the Mirror.
One said: "But where is the rice?"
"Why are the onions winning?" Asked another person.
While a third added: "Is that ground pepper on the chicken?
“Okay let me pass, l can only see coloured rice and not Jollof."
But, some frequent fliers weren’t totally miffed at the meal.
They noted that the colour scheme was that of the Ghanaian flag which was an appreciated touch.
One person wrote: "In their defence, they served you the National Flag of Ghana, on your trip to Ghana."

Fellow Twitter users also mentioned that they’d been served similar dishes on other airlines.
One person wrote: "I had a similar experience when I took a Virgin Atlantic flight to Lagos, I laughed."
A third mentioned they’d seen a comparable version of the rice dish on Turkish Airlines.
A spokesperson for British Airways said: "We pride ourselves on creating quality dishes from all around the world.
“In this case, we agree with the customer that this hasn’t hit the mark."
