Brits admit they would rather go on spa breaks with friends than their partner

With winter setting in plenty of Brits want to get one last break in before the stress of Christmas and the cold weather.

Rather than flying lots of holidaymakers choose to make things easier and take a trip to a spa hotel in the UK.

There are plenty of venues to choose – The Gainsborough Bath Spa in Somerset which has a stunning glass-roofed atrium for example, while the Calcot & Spa in the Cotswolds has a spacious spa in the grounds of a country house and there’s even childcare provided at set times.

However, while you might think that spas are typically the retreat of couples looking for a romantic weekend away it seems us Brits would prefer to go with our friends.

Wedding experts, hitched.co.uk, surveyed the preferences of newlyweds and brides-to-be for National Spa Week.

They found that even among those in their honeymoon phase half would prefer to go to a spa with a pal.

The data showed that half of nearly-weds (49%) would rather go to the spa with their friends as this would be more fun for them, than if they went with their partners (43%), or by themselves (8%).

Plus, 54% of people asked said they’d love to have their hen party or sten (a combination stag-hen party) at a spa.

While at the spa, 28% said they preferred to take advantage of the treatments on offer, but 24% were happy to relax by the poolside.
