Brits can be paid £600 to go on holiday with a mate and drink wine
Calling all wine lovers – the ultimate summer internship has opened which sees employees paid hundreds of pounds for a few days work.
Majestic, the well known UK wine retailer, is advertising for a “Vintern” who it says will be paid the equivalent of a £52,000 a year salary to drink plonk on holiday.
The chosen worker will travel to a stunning Portuguese vineyard to enjoy delicious wine from its source.

The role was created to help Majestic’s Wine Club decide if all wine tastes better abroad than at home.
And, the chosen applicant can even take a mate with them to the breathtaking Quinta Da Boavista vineyard.
In the “best summer job ever” the Vintern will go on a three-day placement to try wines from Majestic’s Spain & Portugal Summer Case.
You’ll also need to sip the same wines back home in the UK to decide the argument.
Those wishing to put themselves forward for the role need no prior experience except a passion for wine and a valid passport.
The role will take place at Quinta Da Boavista vineyard which is run by family-owned business Casa Santos Lima and was distinguished as the “Best Portuguese Producer” by the prestigious Mundus Vini 2021 wine awards.
In addition to flights and accommodation, the successful new hire will receive £600 remuneration for the three day’s work – the equivalent of a £52,000 annual salary.
Vintern’s working day will start with a guided tour of the vineyard by traditional horse and carriage, followed by visits to the wine cellar and barrel room to appreciate the full process from grape to bottle.
Their next responsibility will be to sample a series of wines and premium olive oils, with the bevs coming from five regions around Portugal: the Algarve, Alentejo, Lisboa, Douro, and Vinho Verdes.
The working day finishes early in this role as the Vintern and their plus one tuck into a three-course lunch, paired with the vineyard’s own tipples.
When you head home after sampling the wines abroad you’ll do the same at home to compare the flavours.
Findings will be published on the Majestic website, confirming once and for all if wine actually tastes better on holiday.
Aspiring wine tasters can apply for the position here by submitting 200 words on why they believe they deserve the role and their opinion on the matter of whether wine tastes better abroad.
Applications close on August 19 2022 and the role will commence in September, on a date agreed by Majestic and the successful applicant.
