Brits warned to check passports before heading to Europe on holidays
Plenty of Brits are looking to book their 2023 holiday this month with great deals to Europe circulating.
However, those who plan to travel to an EU country this year must be aware of a little known passport rule.
If your documents do not fall within the regulations then you could be prevented from getting on your flight.

You must follow the Schengen area passport requirements if you are planning to travel to an EU country (except Ireland), or Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or Vatican City.
Most of us know that your passport must have at least three months of validity left on it on the date you plan to leave.
Some EU countries require at least six months of validity left – so check the rules before you book.
But, you must also be aware that the passport should have been issued less than 10 years before you enter the EU, reports LiverpoolEcho.
If your passport was issued before October 1, 2018, extra months may have been added to its expiry date, but these months will not be valid for people entering the EU.
That means you could have three months left, but if it’s on a 10 and a half year old passport it is no longer valid.
If this is the case then you could be turned away at the airport.
You should always double check the entry requirements for any country you plan to travel to on the gov.uk website.
If your passport is, or will be, valid for travel in 2023 then there are some cracking deals out there.
