Butlin’s promises cheap £12.25pp holidays for families in cost of living crisis

Butlin's is hoping to help British families who feel unable to afford a holiday during the cost of living crisis by offering stays for as little as £12.25.

The iconic firm’s three fun resorts are offering dirt-cheap prices for next year as energy costs surge.

Hopefully, the bargain holidays can keep kids smiling, and make some mega memories, despite an impending recession.

In an exclusive chat with the Daily Star, Butlins Entertainment Director Mike Godolphin has vowed to keep the party going at the firm’s three resorts in Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness.

And he’s promising a festive season to remember for poorer families with young kids who may struggle this winter as energy bills rise to £3,600.

Mike said: “There’s so much included in the price.

“Alongside accommodation the price includes all live shows including headline names, free flow pool access, unlimited fairground rides, soft play, playgrounds. There’s something for all the family.

“In 2023 we’ve got Showtime Midweek breaks on sale for £49.

“That’s £12.25 per person.

“Day visits have returned to all three resorts too, offering an affordable, fun day out from £9.”

He wants the holiday camp firm to front the nation’s Christmas celebrations despite warnings of a cost of living crunch around the festive season.

Butlin’s has come a long way since the days of knobbly knee competitions.

The modern resorts are all about affordable stays with endless activities and world-class entertainment.

But they still have the same quintessential British charm that inspired their famous slogan: “Our True Intent Is All For Your Delight.”

“Butlin’s has always been renowned for its entertainment,” Mike said.

“We continue to do that, but in a way that’s bigger and better than ever before.

“We’ve got incredible headline acts and our own Butlin’s entertainment that includes West End level shows, amazing venues and brilliant pools.”

That now includes more ambitious events than ever before, thanks to brand new 2,000-seater theatres at all three locations.

The Studio 36 venues were built during the Covid-19 shutdown in 2020.

They give Butlin’s the space to host big acts like magician Stephen Mulhern, 45, X Factor star Fleur East, 34, and dance troupe Diversity.

Next year, they will be home to the Masked Singer Live.

Outside of the venues, Butlin’s offer fairgrounds, swimming pools and SKYPARK – billed as “the most exciting playground in the UK.”

But it’s not just about family fun, according to Mike.

“We also have our Big Weekenders that are exclusively for adults,” he adds.

“This isn’t your traditional Butlin’s family break. They are all about friends getting together to let their hair down and enjoy live music, entertainment, comedy and lots more.”

The smart facilities and exciting events are a far cry from Butlin’s humble beginnings.

It all started in 1936, when entrepreneur Billy Butlin bought a patch of land in Skegness.

He wanted to make the British seaside break accessible to all.

To make sure his guests were well looked-after, he recruited his famous team of Redcoats.

As the summer season draws to a close, excitement is already building for Butlin’s annual Christmas events.

Mike said: “All three resorts will be twinkling more than ever before with over 140,000 lights.

"There’s exciting new Christmas shows, one of which includes arguably the world’s most famous Redcoat, Father Christmas, taking to the stage.”
