Cabin crew explain how to nab extra drinks – and tricks to get ‘VIP treatment’

Ever wondered how you can pick up a few perks while you're flying?

Apparently if you want to get extra drinks, it's all to do with what you're wearing…

Flight crew have revealed that how you dress can get you better service in economy, or more drinks.

A JetBlue flight attendant, who remained anonymous, told The Points Guy some of the ways to get some freebies along the way.

When asked about what travellers can do to get the "VIP treatment", the staff member said that it's not about what you wear.

However, if you want some extra perks in economy, then yes, it's to do with your outfit.

The worker said: "Presentation matters.

"Now I'm not saying you'll get into Mint or a premium cabin on another airline simply for how you're dressed. That's a myth.

"However, you can control how you're perceived and how you present yourself.

"Well-mannered passengers improve their odds at having the beverage cart stop a few extra times by their seat when thirsty."

Meanwhile another flight attendant said they often give out free drinks if you have any problem on your seat.

Kat Kamalani, who works in the US, said: "This is the number one way that you can get a free drink on your next flight.

"So if you're sitting in your seat and your monitor or air conditioning or something is broken and we can't fix it.

"We have a little iPhone that we can give you free complimentary drinks to make up for that mishap."

The advice came from a flight attendant, @tommycimato, who posted a video on TikTok with five hygiene tips for airline passengers.

He said: "Do not fall asleep or lean your head on the window. You are not the only one that has done that.

"And you don't know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window."
