Camping and caravan holidays boomed last year when UK holidaymakers opted to remain in the country over heading abroad. It’s likely to be a similar tale this year and, with the roadmap out of lockdown now unveiled, many are rushing to get a trip in the diary. Butlins, Centre Parcs, ParkDean and Haven are some of the most popular holiday park providers in the UK – when are they opening and what are their latest updates?

Butlins

Butlins will be opening up its resorts on May 17.

“Following the government announcement on the roadmap out of lockdown, we’re excited to announce that we plan to reopen our resorts on May 17,” said Butlins.

“We understand that you need more flexibility during these uncertain times, so if your break has been affected we’d like to offer you the following options.

“Of course we hope you’ll still join us on the resort, but if not, there are options to rebook, bank your funds or request a refund.

“We’re asking you to complete a form to give us an indication of how you would like to manage your break.”

The holiday company added: “For guests with breaks between March 15 and May 16, as always, we’ll be in touch via email, SMS or letter to discuss your options.”

Centre Parcs

Centre Parcs is opening its bases on April 12.

“Following the UK Government announcement on their roadmap for re-opening society over the coming weeks and months, we are planning to reopen our UK villages and welcome our guests back from April 12,” said the company.

The villages in Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest, Whinfell Forest and Woburn Forest will all open on this date.

“Please note that any plans are subject to Government giving the go-ahead to move to this next step of their roadmap, which they intend to confirm by April 5,” said Cente Parcs.

It added: “All guests due to visit on breaks prior to April 12 should have already received an email from us with instructions on how to cancel activities and restaurants and how to reschedule or cancel.”

Haven

Haven will be opening its English parks from April 12.

“We’re super excited to be able to open the doors to all our English parks this April and as it stands, we’re planning to get you back from Monday 12th should Government advice at the time allow,” said Haven.

It added: “The Government is set to provide confirmation on the start date for each step in the week before (April 5) and we’ll provide guests with an update as soon as we’re able to.”

However, measures do still remain in place for breaks going ahead between April 12 and May 16.

“All our accommodation will be open, however, we’ll only be able to welcome one household per unit ,” explained Haven.

“Restaurants and bars will be open but limited to outdoor areas only.”

The following will not be open: showbars, indoor dining, creative activities, indoor play, Airspace at Combe Haven and Blue Dolphin, swimming pools at Rockley Park (for breaks up to and including April 29) and aqua parks in swimming pools.

Haven parks in Scotland and Wales will open on April 2.

Parkdean Resorts

Parkdean’s English parks will open on April 12 “subject to government guidance following the latest government update”.

The following won’t be available under May 17: indoor food and drink, outdoor pools, soft play, outdoor and indoor performances, kids’ shops and amusement arcades.

As for Scotland, Parkdean said in a statement: “We hope to welcome all holidaymakers and Owners back to our Scottish parks when they reopen on April 26, 2021.

“We hope to have all facilities and activities open, subject to further government guidance.”

Concerning Wales, the holiday brand said: “Our Welsh parks will reopen to holidaymakers on April 12, 2021, subject to government guidance. This follows the latest update from the Welsh Government and Parkdean Resort’s decision to keep our parks closed a little longer.

“We look forward to welcoming our holidaymakers back to our Welsh parks and we hope to have all facilities and activities open, subject to further government guidance.

“We are actively contacting all affected holidaymakers who are booked to arrive before this opening date.”
