Cheapest European holiday is ‘a fabulous find’ – and it’s not in Spain

Recent research from Wizz Air named the cheapest places to go on holiday in Europe this year, based on their cost of living.

The study looked at the average cost of breakfast, dinner, public transport and beer in five popular summer destinations.

Travel expert Andras Rado revealed that Dalaman, in Turkey, is the most affordable summer break for 2023.

Dalaman

Holidaymakers visiting Dalaman will spend £41.94 on average a day. Accommodation in the Turkish spot can cost as little as £66 per night, which is 319 percent cheaper than in the UK.

A meal for two can cost around £10 and breakfast only £2.50. Dalaman, in Mugla, on the southwestern coast of Turkey, is a very interesting summer destination with beautiful beaches.

In the region of Dalaman, tourists can visit the vibrant seaside town of Marmaris or the beautiful port city of Fethiye.

The most popular beaches in Dalaman are Sarsala Koyu and Kille Sahili. On Tripadvisor, a British traveller said that Sarsala Koyu is definitely “worth a visit”.

They explained: “Lovely beach, beautiful scenery, nice place to unwind. Only able to spend an hour here before our flight home but a fabulous find.”

Another one, named Emmanuel, opined: “Stunning… What an amazing location. We caught this beach right at the end of the season. There were just a handful of people on the beach. The setting is so picturesque and well worth the drive down the hair pond bends! The cafe manager was very helpful and friendly.”
