Dad upgrades to 1st class without family – then angers wife by chatting to woman

A dad angered his wife after being upgraded to first class – leaving her and his two kids in economy.

TikTok user Jordynn Wynn said she witnessed the event during her recent plane journey.

In a video shared online she said the man – in his late 30s to early 40s – started a conversation with her as they sat in the fancy plane seats.

But the innocent chit-chat didn't go down well with his wife, who apparently stormed over and confronted them 20 minutes into the conversation.

She recalled: "He’s working on his laptop and I’m working on my laptop, and the flight attendant comes around and offers us drinks and I just order a water."

The man then informed her that drinks were free in their seating class.

She added: "At some point, he actually tells me his wife is in the back with the two kids because he’s very far behind in the project and he was sitting in first class so he could get it finished because he also randomly got upgraded."

However, Jordynn claims the man’s wife then appeared with their two young children and "plops" the baby on his lap. She said: "If you’re not going to work, then the least you can do is watch one of the babies."

The dad apparently tried to argue the issue, but his wife said she’d watched him relaxing for 20 minutes while she wrangled their little ones in economy. Jordynn added: "She just ends up leaving and she just leaves the baby in his lap."

The TikTok star was surprised by the man’s behaviour. She asked: "What partner leaves their partner in the back of a plane while they’re in first class drinking whisky, with like a two-year-old and a five-year-old on like a three, four-hour flight?"

In the comments, hundreds of people commented on the situation – with many slamming the husband’s behaviour.

One person said: "My husband left me with our daughter when he was upgraded to [first class] on a six-hour flight. Whenever I think about it, I buy myself something nice."

While another wrote: "If my husband took the upgrade and left me in economy with two kids he wouldn’t make it out alive."

And a flight attendant added: "I can’t tell you how many times husbands take the first class seat and leave their wives in the back."

But, some thought that the woman was being extreme.

One person wrote: "It’s kind of amazing how many comments there are from wives who don’t think husbands should make conversation on planes."

Another said: "Seems like he was their on a work trip and the family wanted to join. Why are people hating on this guy for working on a work trip?!"

In other news, a cabin crew member recently pointed out that men often acted more "entitled" than women on planes.
