Epic £35million floating resort to open in UK with lakeside lodges and spa
A stunning floating spa resort is currently under construction in East Anglia.
The £35 million resort spans 80-hectares and is being built over Ashwicken Lake near the Norfolk Broads.
Plans suggest the eco resort will include a restaurant and wellness suite, as well as 132 lakeside lodges.
Or for those who prefer to have their feet closer to dry land, 22 treehouse dwellings are being built.
When travel fans aren’t kicking back and relaxing, there’s plenty of activities they can get stuck into.
There’s a nearby children’s playground and tennis court – and fun things to do include swimming, tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and archery.
According to the Mirror, the project is still in the early stages of planning.
Baca Architects who are behind the design have offered up a sneak peek at what guests could expect courtesy of some concept imagery of the resort – and it looks very picturesque.
Highlights include a huge pool that's covered and looks out to the lake, which is bound to be popular with spa guests.
Then there's the spacious outdoor decking around the floating spa and cafe with heaps of outdoor seating, and even some lakeside loungers so you can soak up the rays while enjoying the scenery.
And as for the lodges?
These look like they will boast huge floor-to-ceiling windows so you can enjoy views of the lake as well as the surrounding greenery.
Each suite is also expected to have an outdoor area with private loungers, and its own mooring for those who plan to make the most of the water sports on offer.
Of course the idea is that this is an eco-resort, and it looks like there will be ample opportunity to immerse yourself in the scenery, and not just the lake itself.
Concept images show what appear to be boardwalks along the water suggesting there could be some nice trails on offer for those who fancy a pre-dinner stroll.
At the moment, the project is still very much in the early stages of planning, and there are public consultations being held, so there is no confirmed opening date.
We'll be sharing any updates as they come in, but you can also find out more about the new holiday resort at wickenwater.com.
