Epic ‘floating’ sky pool with glass bottom is opening in London next month
You’d have to be good with heights to go paddling in this “floating” sky pool.
The glass bottomed lido is located 115ft above the streets of London and opens to the public next month.
It’s 10 floors above ground and spans between two towers of luxury flats in Nine Elms.
The jaw-dropping pool was shipped thousands of miles from Colorado and then connected using special technology to keep it protected from the elements.
Those who dare to get their adrenaline pumping as they go for a dip will get to experience spectacular views.
The 82ft pool in Embassy Gardens overlooks the Houses of Parliament, London Eye and billion-dollar US Embassy.
Sadly, you probably have to live in the flats to experience the attraction.
Embassy Gardens accommodation starts at £600,000 and can be as pricey as £5 million.
But if you want to catch a glimpse of the pool, you can see it being unveiled on May 19.
Roman Kemp is hosting a live-streaming event, which will show the lido in all its glory.
Famous synchronised swimmers Aquabatix are even planning a performance for viewers.
Previously, developer Ballymore’s Chairman Sean Mulryan said: “It was an idea that really stood out and that we thought was quite special.
"We didn’t know if it was possible at the time and five years ago it wouldn’t have been. It’s only because of advances in technology that we’re able to do this."
The website adds: "Spanning the Embassy Gardens’ Legacy Buildings, the Sky Pool is the world’s first ‘floating’ swimming pool.
"Once installed, the 25-metre-long acrylic pool will allow members of the development’s exclusive Eg:le Club to glide between buildings 35 metres up in the sky."
And Brian Eckersley Director of Eckersley O’Callaghan, Sky Pool structural engineers, commented: "Once you swim off, you can look right down. It will be like flying."
We wish we could try it!
Off to make friends with someone who lives in Nine Elms…
