Bounce analysed the most visited cities in the world and ranked them to find the places with the most five-star rated attractions, but lowest visitor numbers.

This lead them to discover some of the most underrated city breaks available to us Brits; and the top spot was sun-soaked Rhodes in Greece, which also happens to be a hotspot for beach holidays.

Now, Rhodes is both the name of the island and the main city upon it – often referred to as Rhodes Town.

Rhodes Town was declared the best underrated city for break thanks to its 124 five-star attractions.

The study also found there were 317 things to do in total in the island city which receives just 2.41million visitors each year.

Rhodes Town is totally worth it for a holiday too as it features an incredible medieval city which looks like you’ve travelled back in time.

The Old Town is held behind a double ring of towering walls with a deep moat and there are ruins of ages past including the classical, Ottoman and Italian eras.

The Archaeological Museum – in a 15th Century Knights Hospital – is worth a visit for those fascinated by the Roman era.

There’s the Palace of the Grand Master to step into and even the Knights’ Quarter which once housed the Knights of St John.

For Brits unbothered by historical sights there’s more than enough to do too thanks to its ridiculously pretty beaches.

Head to Elli beach for swimming and snorkelling was well as sitting under the bright umbrellas with a cocktail – in fact photographers and tourists alike flock to this beach thanks to its incredible turquoise, sparkling water.

Alternatively you could drive across the island to Kati Petres where the water is a bright cobalt blue.

Anyone who loves retail therapy will be in heaven in Rhodes as the streets are lined with stalls and shops selling everything from olive oil and olive wood treasures to clothing, jewellery, novelties and leather sandals.

Plus, there are many restaurants serving tasty Greek food from rooftop verandas and bars with fantastic views.

Brits hoping to head to Rhodes can do so from as little as £33 with easyJet.

Alternatively, splash out on a package holiday to Rhodes with TUI from just £263.

The study found that other underrated city break destinations included Marrakesh in Morocco, Porto in Portugal and Heraklion in Greece.

The most overrated destination was found to be Paris in France.
