‘Exceptionally cheap’ holiday destination ‘often overlooked by Brits’

Although holiday prices have risen it’s still possible to find a cheap summer holiday. Nicky Kelvin, of Points Guy UK, shared his top destination recommendations for 2023 exclusively with Express.co.uk.

Nicky said: “We know that the current economic state can make travel feel slightly burdensome, but it doesn’t have to be as there are some destinations that may in fact, wind up cheaper than staying in London!”

Bulgaria

Nicky told Express.co.uk: “Known for its rugged Balkan mountains, Black Sea beaches and Dionysian nightlife, Bulgaria is a stunner for a holiday destination often overlooked by Brits.

“It’s exceptionally cheap and known for being one of the most affordable countries in Europe.”

Bulgaria could be a fantastic choice for Britons looking for a bargain break this summer and a great alternative to a beach break in Spain.

One of Bulgaria’s leading beach resorts is Sunny Beach which is known for its lively nightlife scene and 15km of golden sand.

Britons looking for a city break could check out Bulgaria’s capital city, Sofia, sheltered below Vitosha Museum.

Tourists can explore the incredible Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, wander the city’s park and enjoy good food on a budget.

For a quieter break, Britons could travel to Plovdiv in southern Bulgaria to see some of the city’s Roman architecture

Turkey

Nicky said: “This popular destination stands out as one of the cheapest holiday hotspots for Brits.

“Turkey is very welcoming to tourists right now and flights aren’t extortionate either, offering better value for UK travellers than any other country in the world.”

Beautiful Turkey has a huge range of attractions and is a great value holiday destination for Britons on a budget.

Britons looking for a city break might want to explore Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar and marvel at the Hagia Sophia.

Tourists searching for a beach break could check out one of the country’s stunning resort areas such as Antalya or Bodrum.

Turkey is also a fantastic choice for Britons looking for late summer sun as many of the country’s beach areas remain warm in October.

Tunisia

Nicky told Express.co.uk: “When most tourists think of North Africa, they think of Morocco. But neighbouring Tunisia has all that Morocco has to offer, at a fraction of the price.

“You can relax in a luxury spa hotel or camp out in the sandy void of the Sahara, Tunisia has all the options.

“For a proper beach holiday, the idyllic island of Djerba is worth considering with an inviting year-round climate.”

Tunisia offers fantastic value for British tourists and is a much cheaper choice than nearby Morocco.

There are plenty of all-inclusive resorts in the country which can be a good value choice for families.

If Britons are looking for a staycation, they might want to go for a city break in England’s cheapest destination.
