A recent study by Parkdean Resorts revealed the “most relaxing hidden gem beaches” to escape the crowds this summer since searches for quiet beaches have increased by 184 percent.

The research named Hengistbury Head Beach, in Dorset, as the “most relaxing beach to visit in the UK”.

The beautiful sandy beach is located next to a nature reserve and has walking trails, 39 local restaurants nearby and 1,720 excellent reviews on Tripadvisor.

The UK’s second-best hidden gem beach to relax on is Rhossili Bay, in Wales, with 1,665 excellent reviews.

This “hidden gem beach” has light pollution levels measuring at level three on the Bortle scale, meaning “it’s the perfect place for stargazing once evening falls,” the experts explained.

Luskentyre Beach, in Scotland, came third as the most relaxing beach in the country, with both happiness levels and life satisfaction levels rated an eight.

“Luskentyre has light pollution levels measuring at an impressively low, level one, making this hidden gem an excellent place for stargazing, the perfect activity to complete after a relaxing day at the beach,” the travel experts added.

On Tripadvisor, a visitor named Mel said that Luskentyre is an “extraordinarily beautiful beach”.

“Beautiful beach of brilliant white, shell sand, stretching across a huge, sheltered bay. Despite its being early April, we decided to have a very brief swim in the gloriously clear water. Unforgettable.”
