‘Fairytale village’ becomes one of the ‘prettiest in Britain’ in Autumn

The arrival of autumn will be celebrated across the British Isles in the coming weeks, with several locations offering sweeping views of the changing landscapes.

Robin Hood’s Bay, which is one of North Yorkshire’s many gems, has been named one of the prettiest places to visit at this time of the year.

Located at the heart of the North York Moors National Park, this quintessentially English village will undoubtedly become one of the best bases for walking, hiking and cycling next month.

According to Robin Bay’s website, the region is brimming with opportunities to explore, including famous rock pools that harbour “ancient fossils”.

Some may prefer to wander through the village’s narrow, twisting cobbled streets and alleyways, which offer far-reaching views of the sea.

Where the area got its name from remains a bit of a mystery, as there are no evident ties to the historical figure Robin Hood.

October presents the perfect window of opportunity to visit the hotspot as is it void of the large crowds that habitually visit during the summer.

The website Alady In London states: “When it comes to the cost, Robin Hood’s Bay is one of the best places to visit in the UK in autumn.

“Not only is it one of the prettiest villages in Britain, but also one of the most beautiful places in the UK at this time of the year.”

It is also a hub for cosy pubs offering candle-lit dinners and coastal walks that boast the best of the seasonal scenery.

The place is a firm favourite of the Yorkshire Food Guide, which captured the village’s ethereal beauty in a TikTok clip published earlier this month.

The video shows the village’s narrow lanes fringed with potted flowers, as a caption reads: “Robin Hood Bay is a Fairytale village’.

For a guaranteed display of fiery colours, the best time to visit the coastal site is between mid-October and mid-November.
