First-look images and drone footage of striking new Dubai hotel Atlantis The Royal have been unveiled ahead of bookings opening for stays on Monday.

The resort sits on the Palm Jumeirah archipelago of artificial islands and has an eye-catching design that stands out even among the blockbuster buildings of the Dubai cityscape, with 795 rooms starting at $850 a night (£730) spread over six towers and arranged in blocks reminiscent of a game of Jenga.

The ‘jewel in Atlantis The Royal’s crown’ is an outdoor ‘entertainment experience’ that forms a bridge in the middle of the resort on the 22nd floor and boasts a 90-metre- (295ft) long infinity pool. Other highlights include Heston Blumenthal’s first-ever cocktail bar, featuring ‘the world’s largest jellyfish aquarium’, Nobu restaurant’s first-ever pool and beach club, two kilometres (1.2 miles) of private beach – and water fountains that ‘breathe fire’.

The most prized rooms at the resort – a sister property to hotel Atlantis The Palm – will be the 44 luxury suites and ‘Signature Penthouses’, which all have private infinity pools, an ‘elite butler service’ and pillow menus embellished with mini versions of each variety, from buckwheat to memory foam.

All rooms, the resort says, will ‘deliver ultra-luxury touches’ that include ‘a bespoke selection of amenities from luxury brands including Hermes, Frette and Graff’.

And they’ll be hi-tech, too, with guests able to control their room’s thermostat, lighting, television and other amenities via their mobile phones.

The food and beverage options will also excite, we’re told, with guests offered dishes by ‘pioneering chefs’ and ‘show-stopping experiences’ across 17 restaurants and bars.

The cocktail bar by superstar British chef Blumenthal is set to be one of the most photographed of these, thanks to a 6.5-metre- (21ft) high aquarium housing 4,000 moon jellies.

Titled Resonance by Heston Blumenthal, this new concept ‘will offer memorable culinary experiences through considered, meticulously crafted and complex cocktails, food, and purposeful theatre’.

The resort will also house an outpost of Blumenthal’s Dinner restaurant, the original of which in London boasts two Michelin stars.

Other ‘culinary icons’ launching restaurants in Atlantis The Royal include Gaston Acurio, Ariana Bundy, Costas Spiliadis and Jose Andres.

Revellers keen to party the night away, meanwhile, will be minded to head to the 22nd-floor entertainment venue – Cloud 22.

The hotel says: ‘Featuring VIP cabanas with private plunge pools, a swim up-bar and a glittering head-shaped DJ booth, this venue is the jewel in Atlantis The Royal’s crown. Set to become the iconic entertainment and nightlife destination in Dubai, revellers can dance away the day and into the night to the world’s best DJs whilst overlooking the glittering Dubai skyline.’

There’s also a ‘late-night party experience’ to be had next door on the 22nd floor in Pan-Asian restaurant Ling Ling – plus ‘360-degree views of the Arabian Gulf and glittering Dubai Skyline’.

Guests will also, no doubt, be dazzled by the water fountains, which have been ‘designed by the world’s authority on water features, Wet Design’.

The resort says: ‘The resort is home to a vast array of fountains and water installations. This includes the magnificent Skyblaze, a fountain that breathes fire and is the first and only permanent fire and water performance fountain in the Middle East.’

The resort will open to guests in 2023, but before it does, there will be a spectacular ‘grand reveal’ in January with a ‘star-studded line-up in attendance’ that echoes the ‘spectacular’ launch of Atlantis The Palm in 2008, where guests included Robert DeNiro, Gerard Butler and Kylie Minogue.

The resort adds: ‘As these new images show, Atlantis The Royal is the pinnacle of luxury, offering guests an experience like no other, uniquely tailored to their every desire.’
